Ms San Diego Leather 1998-1999
Suzy AKA Safety Bear
Don’t let the nickname fool ya! While safety is a key aspect of play for Suzy, she relishes playing on the edge and pushing boundaries. What some consider edge play, Suzy considers “just another night in the dungeon.”
Suzy has been a member of the San Diego Leather community since 1997. This year commemorates 20 years since she earned the title of Ms San Diego Leather 1998-99. Keeping our Leather history alive is of particular interest to her, which motivated her to serve several years as a Leather Archive & Museum Regional Coordinator. Suzy may best be known for her skill and passion as a Bootblack. She was the 1st woman to bootblack at Wolfs (yes, in the back room!) and the San Diego Eagle.
A seasoned edge player, Suzy has presented workshops locally and nationally on topics including: cutting, boot blacking, knives, bondage, piercings, and fire flogging. Beyond that, some of her favorite shenanigans involve body punching, stomping, bootsex, cigars, covert play and mindfucks.
In reference to her leather journey, Suzy says, “I am fortunate to have learned from many skilled and wicked leather men and women. They not only taught me the importance of technical skills, but also the emotional and mental aptitude demanded to fully delve into the dark and brilliant places we touch as SM practitioners.”
